-
To ensure long lasting brightness, ceilings should be vacuumed at
least once or twice a year with a soft brush attachment.
-
Make sure kitchen and bathroom exhaust fans work properly. Change
filter regularly. Change heating and air conditioning filers every six
months.
-
Be sure fireplace chimneys draw smoke properly and that flue is
open before lighting a fire.
-
Do not use household bleach or other cleaners on your textured
ceilings. Their use will cause your texture to crumble and decompose.
-
When making repairs or spraying a new textured ceiling, ALWAYS use
a white primer before applying texture.
-
NEVER paint your sprayed textured ceilings. Paint prevents smoke
and soot absorption. Your ceilings will actually get dirtier much
faster.
-
When wallpapering, light apply 2" masking tape to ceiling to
protect it from excess adhesive.
-
When painting, lightly apply 2" masking tape to ceilings to
protect it from excess paint. Use a trim brush to paint 5 inches down
from where ceiling and wall meet. Do this along perimeter of room.
Then use roller to paint up to trimmed areas
-
To conceal small nail holes, put small amounts of spackle compound
on fingertip and apply to blemished area. Then dab with porous
sponge to approximate textured effect. (or use proper material)

Install
drainage holes on popcorn ceilings that are directly below bathrooms,
kitchens, laundry rooms, etc., which are prone to water leaks and
flooding. To do this, drive an 8 penny nail into your popcorn ceiling
and through the sheetrock. Be careful to avoid pipes, electrical
wiring and beams. Position holes about 4-6 inches apart. Then plug the
holes with the little pieces of popcorn texture. These plugs will be
pushed out easily by leaking water which will limit damage to
ceilings. (see enclosed product sheet) Proper drainage prevents
sheetrock damage and can save hundreds of dollars in repairs. On
plaster ceilings, use a drill to avoid cracking. Does not apply to
concrete ceilings
